SPECTATORS LINED THE ROUTE
Saturday was the first race in the Scottish Hill Championship series. New Abbey near Dumfries was the venue for the race up Knockendoch and Criffel. The route which is a medium category served up challenging conditions underfoot with no dry track beyond the tarmac road, mud, mud and more mud being the norm. Over 200 runners started, Finlay Wild and Ray Murdoch from Lochaber made the trip south. Finlay chased and caught Graham Gristwood(Ochils) on the downhill but eventually Graham triumphed on the road section finishing in a time of 00:50:51, Finlay finished 7secs behind in 00:50:58 and ahead of Murray Strain(HBT) 00:53:20. Georgia Tindley(HBT) was first lady with a time of 01:05:58. Ray finished in a time 01:39:05 having run the downhill with inov8 shoe ripped from toe to heel, ironically Gus Bowman had mentioned on the start line he lost his inov8 sole the previous year in the race. Result
- Winner Graham Gristwood
- 2nd Finlay
- 3rd Murray Strain
- 1st Lady Georgia Tindley
