Here is the winter league points update for all categories after the Leanachan race.
Having a cycle thro’ the Leanachan forest from Spean to loosen up after a club run the previous evening ( 10.5 miles and nearly 2 hours ,I’m sure Niall had a bad day at work ) you might expect to meet a dog walker or maybe the odd roe deer but something slightly more scary than even some of those featured in the previous post was there in the forest. As I turned a corner at speed there before me was this totally black fat wild boar , we sized each other up in seconds and as I was the bigger (on my bike) he/she decided to flee. Now it’s my first encounter with a boar in 8 years running/biking in the area , so two questions, has the boar just arrived in the area (anyone else seen it ) and if I had been running and therefore not look so big would I have been the one fleeing ? Any experts ?
Sunday saw the second ” long ” race in the winter league series and it was the long legs of John Binnie (1:03:33) that crossed the finishing line first ahead of Alan Smith (1:04:14) closely followed by the ever improving Jon Gay (1:04:48) . The ladies race was won by new recruit to Lochaber AC, Diane Baum (1:11:01) followed by Amanda Blackhall (1:13:59) and Lucy Prins (1:17:56).
The mens category winners were first and second placed John – Vet 40 , Alan – Vet 50 respectively and for the second race in a row Jim Treasurer (1:18:14) was the first Vet 60 .
The ladies category winners were Amanda – Vet 40 , Nancy Kennedy Vet 50 (1:24:09) and Elma Murdoch Vet 60 (1:51:56) .
Good to see the Jog Scotland ladies turning out once more . Elaine Liddell and Sandra MacDonald both finishing in 1:32:16 not forgetting Ray Morrison(1:56:18) .
