Ten of Lochaber’s runners took part in this race on Saturday. Eight of these having to get out of bed at 3am, to register at the green welly between 4.30 and 5.30am, not to forget our back up crews who also had an early start. The race started at 6am with 131 runners setting off from Brodie’s store Tyndrum. From here all the way to BA bridge (Fort William) it was a battle against the dreaded Midge with clouds of them out in their billions. From here onwards we had the sun and very warm conditions making this even tougher than it already is, there was little reward at the top of the stair case with a very slight breeze as we dropped down into Kinlochleven. The temperature just kept going up, all I kept thinking about here was the fresh water my crew would have for me in Kinloch. Most of this was used for dowsing over my head, so having freshened up it’s just a case of heading home over the Larig. Fantastic race and a great day out if your thinking of doing an ultra I would recommend this one. Below is the Lochaber runners and times, also back up crews. For full results WWW.DEVELOTHEHIGHLANDSFOOTRACE.CO.UK. WELL DONE to all the runners, some fantastic times.
